10,623 file papers in Kollam district

Scrutiny on Wednesday

KOLLAM: As many as 10,623 candidates have filed their nomination papers for the coming local body polls in Kollam district. On Tuesday, 6,333 candidates filed their nomination papers.

The nominations will be scrutinised on Wednesday.

As many as 827 nominations were filed for the Kollam Corporation which comprises 52 divisions, while 169 nominations were filed for the 27 district panchayat divisions.

For the 13 block panchayats, comprising 163 wards, 1,037 nominations were received.

As many as 8,155 nominations were filed for the 71 grama panchayats which comprise 1,226 wards.

For the Punalur municipality consisting of 32 wards, 271 nominations were filed and the Paravur municipality, comprising 29 wards, received 164 nominations.
