PALAKKAD: The Kasaba police on Tuesday handed over the body of Tomy (20), son of Chiriyankadath Joseph of Amala Nagar, Thrissur, which was found in a canal on the Kanjikode-Malampuzha road on Monday night, to his relatives. The police said that the body was found in a canal near Teatex Complex. The police first registered it as a case of unidentified person. But the Thrissur police informed about the missing of Tomy since Saturday and the relatives of the youth came and identified the body. The Kasabha police prepared the inquest and a post-mortem examination was conducted before handing over the body. A car was also found fully burnt at Attapallam between Walayar and Kanjikode a few kilometres away from where the body was found. The Walayar police are investigating whether the car belonged to Tomy. Our Staff Reporter writes from Thrissur: According to the Peramangalam police, Tomy was missing from Saturday. A person, who gave his name as Jose of Kallur, had responded to an advertisement placed by Tom's father Joseph, a jeweller, for sale of his Maruti car. Joseph told the police that the car was shown to Jose at Amballur. On Saturday, the prospective buyers wanted to see the car again and Joseph asked Tom to take it to them. Tom called up his father after a while and said he, along with the prospective buyers, was proceeding to Pallikkara. Tom was reported missing since then, the police said. The police suspected that those who posed as car buyers were also involved in the robbery case at a petrol pump on Swaraj Round in Thrissur on Sunday.
