KARIMNAGAR: The Zilla Parishad at its general body meeting on Tuesday passed a resolution unanimously urging the State Government to declare 28 mandals in the district drought hit. Raising the issue during a discussion on agriculture and shortage of fertilizers in the district, the TRS legislator, Kasipeta Lingaiah, urged the meeting to pass a resolution on the drought issue. He said rainfall was scanty in several mandals of Sircilla, Nerella and Indurthi Assembly segments. When the Agriculture Joint Director, Koti Reddy, said that Metpally mandal recorded highest rainfall, 29 mandals received normal rainfall and 28 mandals deficit rainfall, ZPTC members of Malhar Rao and Metpally mandals urged the Government to include their mandals in the list of drought-hit. Earlier, the members demanded proper distribution of fertilizers. They also passed a resolution urging the Government to fill 21 vacant agricultural officers posts in the district.
