FUN ZONE: Children had loads of fun at the `welcome-back-to-school' picnic at American International School in Chennai on Saturday.
CHENNAI:
Hot dogs, hamburgers, music, ice cream and football meant loads of fun for children who attended the annual `welcome-back-to-school picnic' organised on Saturday at the American International School - Chennai (AISC).
One of the biggest school events of the year, it provides an opportunity for old and new friends to meet.
This year the annual gathering had special significance because it marked AISC's tenth anniversary. It was an opportunity for the AISC community to make full use of the school's amenities including the swimming pool, soccer pitch, gym, and pre-school playground.
Everywhere one looked there was delicious food, colourful balloons, smiles, and people enjoying their time together. Games, face painting, mehndi, and swimming had been organised.
Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, Tweety, and several other cartoon characters dropped in, much to the delight of the younger children.
As the afternoon progressed, everyone hit the ice cream train.
At the end of the day people left with full stomachs and a renewed sense of the AISC community as we embark on AISC's tenth year. Consul General of the United States Consulate David Hopper and his wife, Susan Woolley Hopper were at the event.
