Semi-technical quiz drew close to 100 participants

CHENNAI:
The Association of Mechanical Engineers of KCG College of Technology (AMEK) conducted a national-level symposium `MechaMorphis' recently.
Jeyapoovan, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Hindustan College of Engineering and Palanikumar, Head of Department of Production Engineering, Sathyabama Deemed University, participated.
A number of events aimed at tapping the technical abilities and creativity of the participants were held.
Over 45 papers were presented on topics such as guided systems, vehicle dynamics, reverse engineering, GIS&GPS systems, alternate fuels and environmental engineering. The 10 short-listed papers were presented over two sessions.
A modelling contest had over 40 teams participating, each comprising two members. After a round of written preliminaries testing knowledge of design and modelling, 10 teams were selected. The final round required them to design components using CATIA, AUTOCAD or PRO-E.
The semi-technical quiz drew close to 100 participants. Five teams of two participants each were selected for the finals after a written preliminary. Dumb charades drew active participation from nearly 100 participants and four teams of three participants each were selected for the finals.
The gaming event was a new addition to this year's symposium. It attracted gaming enthusiasts from all over the city.
