Hike in fuel prices condemned

KOCHI: The Ernakulam Merchants Union has protested against the hike in prices of petrol and diesel. A statement from union general secretary Venkatesh Pai said the Union and State Governments should take steps to cut tax on petrol and diesel in order to ensure that they are reasonably priced. — Staff Reporter

UGC refresher course

KOCHI: The Department of Atmospheric Sciences, CUSAT, will hold a UGC-RCC refresher course on `Disaster management' from October 4 to 27 for university/college teachers teaching science or engineering. KOCHI: The Regional Passport Office, Kochi, has issued passports for applications received till July 7, where police verification is over. The passports have been despatched in the week ending September 2, the Regional Passport Officer informed. — Staff Reporter
