KOCHI: : With the last date for filing of nominations for the local bodies polls ending on Tuesday, 661 persons have filed their nominations to the Corporation divisions. For the district panchayats, 143 have filed their nominations, 9,886 for grama panchayats, 1,185 for block panchayats and 1,283 for municipalities. The nominations will be examined on Wednesday morning. Only in case of grave irregularities or discrepancies will nominations be rejected. The names of candidates will appear in the alphabetic order on the ballot paper. The names will appear first and not details like initials, a release said here on Tuesday. Meanwhile, District Collector A.P. M. Mohammed Hanish said that returning officers should be informed in case political parties paint slogans or names of candidates on the walls of Government buildings. Action would be taken against erring candidates, he said.
