MBA student commits suicide

A first year student of MBA programme, Renuka Thaku, 22, allegedly committed suicide by hanging self in the working women's hostel she was living in at Ameerpet on Tuesday evening. A native of Gurgaon, the victim was studying at the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI) branch here, the Panjugatta police said. Reasons for the suicide are not yet known.

Constable's house burgled

Thieves broke into the house of a police constable at Chatrinaka and took away Rs. 6,400 and gold ornaments weighing two tolas on Monday night. Syed Moosa of Kalapather police station lives at Gulam Murtuza Chawni near Kandkalgate. He left for Mahabubnagar three days ago. On return, he found the lock of the house broken and the property stolen.

Stolen jewellery recovered

The Bowenpally police on Tuesday recovered stolen gold ornaments worth Rs. 2.5 lakhs after arresting two burglars. The arrested persons — D. Sekhar, 20, and K. Praveen, 19, both hailing from Ayodhyanagar of Qutbullahpur in Ranga Reddy district, — were earlier arrested by the Alwal police in theft cases and were convicted, a press release said. The duo confessed to two burglaries -one in 2005 and the other in 2004 at Hasmathpet and Mallikarjuna Colony of Bowenpally.

Ganja seized; one held

The police Task Force (North) team on Tuesday intercepted a scooter and seized ganja weighing 3.6 kg from its rider Sanjay Singh at Rasoolpura crossroads.

Later, Singh told police that he procured the banned narcotic substance from one villager Dharmaiah of Warangal district and was on his way to sell the same to a party, according to a press release.

Driver killed

A 60-year-old driver of a tipper, Amir Ali, was killed when it overturned near Raj Bhavan on Tuesday.

The victim was a resident of Sultan Nagar in Erragadda, the Panjagutta police said.
