7 Bangladeshi burglars held
According to the police, the accused were arrested at New Ashok Nagar in East Delhi on Monday around 8-30 p.m. Those arrested have been identified as Abbas, Farhad, Fuyed Hussain, Mohammad Farooq, Mohammad Feroz Ali, Mohammad Farhad and Mohammad Salim. Two knives and an iron rod were recovered from them. The police claimed to have solved three cases of burglary reported from New Ashok Nagar.
Elderly woman found murdered
According to the police, the incident came to light when Puneet Vasudev, son of Pramila Vasudev, a resident of Mahadev Nikunj Apartments, Sector-9, in Rohini, called up around 8-30 p.m. to inform that his mother has been killed. After about 30 minutes, Puneet and Shyam Sunder returned. They knocked the door but there was no response. Puneet then went to the guard room from where he dialled the intercom number. But there was no response again. Puneet then managed to get inside the house from a rear door and found that the entire house has been ransacked. The body of his mother was found dumped in a bed box. It appeared that she was first stabbed and then strangulated to death, the police said.

According to the police, Kavita, daughter of Pyare Lal, a resident of Jhuggi Mayapuri, was crossing the road along with her elder sister, Meenu, and brother Yogesh, when a tempo going from Mayapuri to Lajwanti hit the three children at Mayapuri Chowk around 2-30 p.m. They were rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital where Kavita was declared dead upon arrival. Meenu and Yogesh escaped with minor injuries. A case has been registered at Mayapuri police station and the driver of the tempo, Dhyan Singh, arrested. Further investigations in the case are on.
Smack recovered from jail warden
According to jail officials, they had received complaints that a warden posted at Rohini jail was selling smack to the inmates. Subsequently, they mounted a raid and recovered 50 gm of smack from him. It is learnt that no case has been registered against him, whereas the jail authorities have initiated an inquiry into the matter.
The incident occurred around 1-30 a.m. when a police patrol team spotted the accused, Amar, assaulting the victim. While he was arrested, the victim was taken to hospital for medical examination.
