Two new judges for Supreme Court

NEW DELHI:
The President has appointed Justice Altamas Kabir, Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court and Justice Raja Varadarajulu Raveendran, Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, as Judges of the Supreme Court, in that order of seniority. They will assume charge on Friday.
Justice Altamas Kabir was born on July 19, 1948. He was enrolled as an advocate in 1973 and practised in the District Court and the Calcutta High Court in civil and criminal sides. He was appointed a permanent Judge in the same High Court on August 6, 1990 and Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court on March 1, 2005.
Justice Raveendran was born on October 15, 1946. He was enrolled as an advocate in 1968. He was appointed a permanent Judge of the Karnataka High Court in February 1993 and Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court a couple of months ago.
