This Day That Age
Prime Minister Nehru has expressed his strong dislike for the phrase "summit conference" which he says should not be used on the floor of Parliament. Answering a supplementary by Mr. Bhupesh Gupta in the Rajya Sabha on September 7 as to what he had in mind when he had spoken of "a summit conference of Asian countries," Mr. Nehru said: "I am quite sure I never used those very unhappy and unfortunate words. This new introduction into the realm of journalism should not be brought on the floor of this or the other House. What I said was something quite the reverse of it. I said that some time or other in the future Asian countries will have to meet to consider various matters, but I added that the time for it is not now."
