Notices
Justice S. Abdul Nazeer on Thursday ordered issue of notice to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) on a petition by Father Muller Medical College and Hospital, Mangalore. The college said it had admitted Jhithesh M. Rasquinha in 2001 for MD course in anaesthesiology. Dr. Jhithesh was also appointed as a full-time resident at the hospital on a consolidated salary of Rs. 3,000 per month. Considering his employment, the college did not insist on the payment of tuition fees. Sometime ago, Dr. Jhithesh wrote to RGUHS asking it to direct the college to give him the examination form. The college said Dr. Jhithesh had not completed his course and has not paid his fees. The university then sent a communication stating that Dr. Jhithesh had passed the examination conducted on November 24, 2004 and sent the marks card. The college asked the university how Dr. Jhithesh could be declared as passed without appearing for the examination, paying the fees or taking the examination form. Meanwhile, Dr. Jhithesh sent a legal notice to the college asking it to hand over his testimonials. The college, in its petition, sought a direction to university to investigate the case and not issue marks card or award a degree to Dr. Jhithesh till the completion of the inquiry. In another case, Justice S. Absul Nazeer on Thursday ordered issue of notice to the RGUHS and other respondents on a petition by the AECS Maruti College of Dental Sciences and Research Centre, Bangalore, seeking a direction to the Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell to fill up vacant dental seats.
