Shobhana Bhartia to head PTI Board

NEW DELHI: Shobhana Bhartia, vice-chairperson of Hindustan Times, was elected chairperson of the Board of Directors of PTI here on Thursday.

R. Lakshmipathy, publisher of Dinamalar newspaper, was elected vice-chairman of the Board.

The elections took place at the conclusion of the company's 57th annual general meeting. Ms. Bhartia and Mr. Lakshmipathy have headed the PTI Board in the past too.

Besides the two, the Board consists of Philip Mathew (Malayala Manorama), N. Ravi (The Hindu), Vineet Kumar Jain (Bennett Coleman & Co. Ltd.), Aveek Kumar Sarkar (Anand Bazar Patrika), M.P. Veerendrakumar (Mathrubhoomi), K. Shanth Kumar (Deccan Herald), Shekhar Gupta (The Indian Express), Vijay Kumar Chopra (Hind Samachar) and Pravinchandra Gandhi (Saurashtra Trust).

The former Chief Justice of India, Justice S P Bharucha; eminent jurist and MP Fali S Nariman; and eminent space scientist Prof. E V Chitnis are the three public service directors on the Board. — PTI
