CRIMEWATCH Occupants of car flee

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Nearly 416 litres of spirit was seized by Excise department officials from a car that was intercepted near the Amaravila check post on Wednesday evening. The persons in the car gave the Excise team the slip.

Meanwhile, Additional District Magistrate M. Bahurudeen has instructed the Excise range officials to step-up the enforcement drive against hooch and illicit spirit in the district, an official release said here on Thursday.

Found hanging

A 26-year-old youth was found dead hanging from a tree near a playground in Peroorkada police station limits. The police identified the deceased as Shyam (26), a technician who services air-conditioners. The police suspect Shyam to have committed suicide. The body was handed over to relatives after post-mortem examination at the MCH.

Woman dead

A 60-year-old woman, who was travelling on a motorcycle along with her nephew, was killed after she fell off the bike at Mukkola, Kidarakkuzhy on Thursday evening.

]She has been identified as Kamalamma, a resident of Kottukal. The body has been kept in the mortuary.
