35 candidates withdraw nominations for elections to the district panchayat

KANNUR: A total 82 candidates were in the fray in the election to the district panchayat here as 35 of the 117 candidates who filed their nominations withdrew from the contest on the last day of withdrawal on Friday.

Candidates of major political parties in each division are: Karivellur - K.V. Vijayan (CMP), K.K. Krishnan - CPI(M) and M.P. Raveendran (BJP); Udayagiri - P.V. Baburaj - CPI(M), T.T. Soman (JSS) and Prabhakaran Kadannappalli (BJP); Alakkode - Jessy Sojan (CPI), Moly Joseph (KC - M) and Aniyamma Rajendran (BJP); Sreekantapuram - Sherly Joseph (Congress), P.P. Shyma - CPI(M) and Josephina Joseph (BJP); Irikkur - P.C. Mohammed (Congress), M.C. Raghavan - CPI(M) and M.V. Kunhiraman (BJP); Iritty - Ansari Thillankery (IUML), Binoy Kurian - CPI(M) and R.P.
