VISAKHAPATNAM: Mohsin Eye Bank, managed by VEBART Trust, organised several programmes during the Eye Donation Fortnight from August 25 to Thursday. The fortnight is conducted by eye banks all over the country according to the guidelines issued by the Eye Bank Association of India (EBAI) to create awareness of corneal blindness, the need to donate cornea and to dispel apprehensions about eye donation after death, according to VEBART Trust and Mohsin Eye Bank Chairman R. Ahikrishna. Besides signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Apollo Hospital for Hospital Cornea Retrieval Programme, Mohsin Eye Bank has set up at the CMR Mall premises an information centre, which will be open till September 28, and has so far received 50 pledge forms from shoppers. At a kiosk operated at Kalanikethan Mall, 20 pledge forms were received. An elocution contest was conducted to students of Pydah Women's College on eye donation. The valedictory was held in association with Lions Club of Visakhapatnam and Vasavi Club, Visakhapatnam.
