VISAKHAPATNAM: Rotary Club Vizag Couples, the first establishment of its kind in the country, where the membership is open only to couples, has released its new generation monthly programme card, which has a series of interesting events. Talking to mediapersons here on Friday, club president P. Sobhan Prakash said that the inaugural function would be held at the Aqua Sports Complex on Sunday with swimming competitions. This would be followed by a first-aid orientation camp for schoolchildren on September 17, a painting contest on September 25 and conclude with a treasure hunt for youth motorcyclists in the age group of 19 to 25 on October 2.He also announced that the club proposed to help the city school run by an NGO, Green Vision, for AIDS-affected children. On the new generation month programmes, Mr. Prakash said that it was observed every September by the Rotary International and the idea was to inculcate the spirit of service among children. Speaking on the occasion, the immediate past president of the club, Pydah Krishna Prasad, said that the club was only the second of its kind in the world with 40 couples as members. When both the wife and husband are members, they could put in coordinated efforts, he felt. All the members were well-placed in society and were service-minded, he said.
