Honouring alumni

Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Mar Ivanios College in the city has a very active and close-knit alumni association. The Association of Mar Ivanios College Old Students (AMICOS) is credited with the presence in it of distinguished personalities from different walks of life. Play back singer G. Venugopal and music director M. Jayachandran are two such former students who have made it big in the film field.

The Kerala State Film Awards 2004 have brought honour and fame, yet again, to the college. While Venugopal was adjudged the best play back singer of the year, Jayachandran was selected to receive the Stat award for the best music director.

The AMICOS Friends of Music, the cultural wing of the alumni association, is honouring them at a function marking its first anniversary, at the Trivandrum Club on September 12. The function is to culminate in a music programme to be led by both of them.
