NEW DELHI: Launching a fresh salvo on the Narendra Modi Government in Gujarat, Union Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh on Sunday accused it of glorifying Adolf Hitler in school textbooks, saying the Nazi leader cannot be a role model in the land of the Mahatma Gandhi. ``In India Adolf Hitler cannot be a role model. It is Gandhiji who is a role model for the whole country,'' Mr. Singh said, addressing a function organised by the Gandhi Samriti and Darshan Samiti here. ``In Gujarat Hitler's life and works have been glorified in school textbooks which is a very serious matter,'' he said, launching an IGNOU-sponsored awareness course `Gandhi and the Contemporary World'. ``Since education is a State subject the Centre can't interfere and correct the contents of the texts,'' he said. To a question on what steps the Centre was taking in this regard, Mr. Singh, later, said ``We will have to wait till Mr. Modi's removal.'' He said that the country has no alternative but to follow the ideology of Gandhiji especially in the wake of prevailing situation. ``We have no alternative but to follow his ideology,'' he said.
