NEW DELHI: Wearing T-shirts with the slogan "Run Fast Against Fast Meters", a large number of people participated in the Mini Marathon organised by Lok Abhiyan and Chetna to protest against the installation of fast-running electric meters by the distribution companies in Delhi. The run, led by president of Lok Abhiyan and former Union Minister, Vijay Goel, started from National Stadium and included many writers, poets, members of residents welfare association, social and traders organisations. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Goel said he has learnt that the discoms are now putting conditions for giving 5 per cent rebate against the electricity rates. Such protest runs would be organised in different parts of Delhi to express people's resentment against the actions of the Delhi Government and private discoms, he said. While demanding a CBI probe, he also wanted to know how the Delhi Government intended to settle the issue of inflated electricity bills being received by the consumers.
