Anna University in sole lead

VELLORE: Fourth seeded Anna University, Chennai shot into sole lead posting maximum points at the end of the third round in the all-India inter-University chess tournament here on Sunday. It blanked Andhra University in the morning and Punjab University in the evening to reach 12 points and lead by a slender half point.

Second seed Osmania University, Hyderabad should blame its fourth board player Ch. Mahesh Babu for accepting a draw in a winning position against Vinoth Kumar of Manomaniam. With this result Osmania lost a chance to stay in the joint lead. It is now tied for the second place with RSTM Nagpur with 11.5 points.
