KOCHI: No arrest has been made so far in the case in which miscreants took control of a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation bus at Kalamassery and set it ablaze on Friday night. The Kerala and Tamil Nadu police are conducting the investigation, which is said to be progressing well. S. Sasikumar, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Trikkakkara, who is heading the investigation, said here on Sunday that a police team led by Periyaswamy, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Special Investigation Team, Tamil Nadu, which had inquired into bomb blasts such as the Coimbatore blasts in the neighbouring State, had arrived in Kochi and was providing full support to the State police. Seven persons were in police custody for interrogation, he added. City Police Commissioner P. Vijayan said the police had spread their net across the State for the culprits. "We are zeroing in on the accused. The role of the PDP [People's Democratic Party] and other organisations in the case is being probed. Nothing has been ruled out, and we are exploring all angles. No doubt, this was a meticulously-planned operation," he said. By examining the cartridge found inside the burnt bus, the police had been able to ascertain that the miscreants had fired from an airgun to scare the crew and the passengers. There was no evidence to show that real guns were used, he added.
