KURNOOL: The Collector, Vikas Raj and the SP, B. Malla Reddy called upon the representatives of political parties and contestants not to violate the election code which would invite stringent punishment. Addressing a meeting here on Sunday, Mr. Vikas Raj said the contestants should indulge in wall-writing on government properties and in case of private structures prior permission should be obtained.
Expenditure
The expenditure should not exceed Rs. 50,000 for corporators, Rs 30,000 for councillors in grade A municipalities and Rs 25,000 for contestants in Nagarapanchayats. The violations would lead to disqualifications in some cases, he said. Loud speakers would be allowed between 6 am and 10 pm. Voters should present one of the 19 documents authorised by the election commission for identification of voters. Each contestant would be allowed to use one vehicle with proper registration. Unauthorised vehicles would not be allowed in the campaign. The SP said contestants and their supporters should not fire crackers during canvassing. Former TDP minister, K.E. Prabhakar, the district secretary of CPI, Bhimlingappa and others were present.
