KOLKATA: Newly promoted NFL side, Mohammedan Sporting had the better of Ever-Ready Association by a brace of goals in the Premier division of the Calcutta Football League at the Salt Lake Stadium here on Sunday. In a rain affected pitch where playing constructive football was difficult, Suleh Musa produced the first goal with a 25-yard volley in the second minute of the game. Midway through the first half Abdul Qadir scored the insurance goal with a firm right-footer. Down 0-2, Ever-Ready galvanised into action in the later half and harassed the rival defence with repeated sorties but failed to strike effectively.
The win enabled Mohammedan Sporting to end with 13 points from 10 matches while Ever-Ready, which lost to East Bengal in the previous encounter, remained on 12 from 10 games. Special Correspondent
St. Michael registers win
NEW DELHI: St. Michael's School and Gyan Bharti School won their matches in the Himalaya Chavanprasha Cup under-15 cricket tournament here.
Brief scores: St. Michael's 255 for six in 40 overs (Karan Khanna 91, Vaibhav Sharma 71, Dev Kumar three for 49) beat Salwan 61 in 12.3 overs (Abhay Kumar four for 19, Ashish Kumar three for 16).
Gyan Bharti 220 for nine in 40 overs (Abhilash Malik 68, Abhishek Choudhary 64, Ashrey Vishwas 32, Sharsh Kumar six for 37) beat Army Public School 60 in 14.5 overs (Rahul Kumar 36, Ashrey Vishwas five for 11, Chinmay Kumar three for 25).
CFA posts win
NEW DELHI. Cambridge Foundation School, Rajouri Garden, beat Hans Raj Model School, Punjabi Bagh, by 38 runs in the quarterfinals of the Radha Kishan Sanjay memorial inter-school cricket tournament here.
