SINGAPORE: Australia's Adam Scott fired a final-round 65 to ease to a seven-stroke victory at the $two million Singapore Open on Sunday, the World No. 7 completing the tournament with a 13-under par 272 total. Jyoti Randhawa's grit and experience carried him through a tough fourth and final round and saw him finish at tied 14th. On a day when just six players managed par or under, Randhawa grinded out a three-over 74 to tie with Australian Terry Pilkadaris. The next best Indian was Ashok Kumar at tied 28th. Arjun Singh (81), the best Indian for the first three days, wilted under hot and humid conditions to drop from tied 11th to tied 41st. Scott was one of 15 golfers forced to finish their third round in the morning after rain had curtailed play on Saturday and set up his victory with three birdies in the first four holes. The 25-year-old Australian picked up $315,000 for his 10th career victory, and second in Asia this season, after April's wire-to-wire Johnnie Walker Classic win in Beijing.
Westwood second
Britain's Lee Westwood finished second after posting a final-round 68 on the tough, par-71 Serapong Course, and Australia's Andrew Buckle was third a shot back at five-under.
Atwal falters
Arjun Atwal faltered midway through his third round with a string of bogeys to drop to a three-over 73 that took him down to tied 29th place in the Bell Canadian Open on the U.S. tour on Saturday. Atwal, tied eighth overnight, is now two-over for the tournament after rounds of 72, 67 and 73 on the par-70 course at the Shaughnessy Golf Club course. Mark Calcavecchia held on to the lead on a day when Stephen Ames tied the course record of 64. Calcavecchia, the 1989 British Open champion, started the day with a five-shot lead, and saw it shrink to one after a round of 72. Craig Barlow, who shot 65, including a hole-in-one, and Jesper Parnevik (67) are one shot behind Calcavecchia at 205. Agencies
