PARAMAKUDI: Hundreds of Dalits on Sunday thronged the memorial of the late Dalit leader Immanuel Sekaran at Paramakudi. They paid homage to the late leader on the occasion of his 48th death anniversary. Vandavasi MLA, Murugavelrajan, the Puthiya Tamizhagam president, K. Krishnasamy and the Puthiya Tamizhagam's breakaway group leader, Duraiarasan, were among those who paid homage at the memorial amidst tight security. The traffic on the busy Madurai-Rameswaram national highway was disrupted for more than five hours as the police blocked vehicles on account of security arrangements. Though some vehicles were diverted through Kamudhi and Parthibanur route, vehicles could not move, as the single narrow road could not handle hundreds of vehicles.
