BANGALORE: The city's Sakshi Gallery will present recent works of Gurusiddappa from Monday at the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath. The event will be a preview to the artist's first solo exhibition in Mumbai at Sakshi Gallery from October 22 to November 10. The preview will feature a trajectory from Mr. Gurusiddappa's earlier works to his most recent reflections on archetypal stance and technical refinement. The themes convey manifestations from reality, contemporary urban condition, portraying the pressures of life and dealing with public aspirations. Here's what the critics have to say about Mr. Gurusiddappa. "The artist confronts society and everyday life with lucidity. The visual callisthenics demonstrate a combination of balance, poise, grace and inner strength. The figures are constructed around a personal narrative that deals with the mundane, the magical and the metaphorical." He is a national academy awardee from Lalithkala Academy, New Delhi, in 2004. The artist had studied painting at the College of Fine Arts, Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath.
