Jeevan Bharathi Award winners honoured

CHENNAI: : Besides being winners of the Jeevan Bharathi Awards, all the women who were honoured at the 49th anniversary celebrations of the Life Insurance Corporation of India on Saturday had one thing in common: they all expressed faith in the LIC policies.

The award winners included film personality Revathy for arts and social service; Kamala Selvaraj of GG Hospital for her work in invitrio fertilisation and embryo transfer; and Jancy James, Vice-Chancellor, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and Radha Chellapan of Bharathidasan University, Tiruchi, for their contribution to education.

They received the awards, citations and Rs. 20,000 each from the chief guest, Commissioner of Police R. Nataraj.

Mr. Nataraj said the LIC and the police served similar purposes. "Whenever there is a contingency, the people need us."
