Constable's rifle goes off

HYDERABAD: A rifle went off accidentally when a constable was cleaning it at the Osmania University police station on Saturday.

The Andhra Pradesh Special Police constable of 8th battalion, J. Venkata Ramana, was cleaning the weapon around 11 a.m. on the first floor of the station building when his fingers touched the trigger and the bullet hit the roof making a hole.

None was injured in the incident.

A case under Section 336 (act endangering life or safety of others) of IPC was booked.
