Two die in road mishaps

Two persons were killed in road accidents in the last two days in and around the city. An oil company employee Ishwar Chand Jain, 52, of Azamabad, came out for a walk in the early hours of Sunday when a speeding DCM van hit him killing him on the spot near the RTC MD office.

A photo studio owner K. Shekhar, 23, was crossing the road near a bus stop at Ramanthapur when a motorcycle knocked him down on Saturday night. Shekhar was shifted to Gandhi Hospital where he died a few hours later while undergoing treatment.

Traffic police equipment stolen

Thieves took away the manpack set of a traffic police Sub-Inspector while the latter was clearing a traffic jam at Road No. 12 in Banjara Hills on Saturday night. Vehicular movement had come to a standstill in the area due to a downpour around 8.30 p.m. and parking of vehicles on the road further aggravated the situation. K. Ramesh of Banjara Hills traffic police station was busy directing the drivers to remove the vehicles from the non-parking area when the manpack was stolen.

Woman's mangalasutra snatched

An unidentified youngster snatched away the `mangalasutra' of a housewife Jayalaxmi, 55, when she stepped out for morning walk at Vengalraonagar on Saturday morning. The man came from behind, pushed the woman, pulled the chain weighing nine tolas and ran away around 5.30 a.m., the Sanjeevareddynagar police said.

Projector taken away

Thieves stole a projector from Sweekar Rehabilitation Institute for the handicapped located at Picket area in Secunderabad. The Institute's Administrative Officer, C. Chandramouli, on Saturday approached the Marredpally police saying the theft was committed between September 5 and 6.
