Motor workers drop stir plan

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Motor transport workers in the capital city have dropped their decision to go on strike from Monday following the signing of a tripartite agreement on payment of Onam bonus to them. Under the terms of the agreement, signed before District Labour Officer R. Sasidharan Nair, the workers would be paid 14.5 per cent bonus before September 13, the AITUC-led Motor Thozhilali Union secretary Pattom Sasidharan said in a statement here. — Special Correspondent

AIYF protest

Thiruvananthapuram: Activists of All India Youth Federation (AIYF) staged a demonstration at the Tuberculosis Centre in Pulayanarkottai on Sunday after an unidentified body was found in an abandoned building on the centre premises. The workers detained the resident medical officer as part of their protest. — Staff Reporter
