THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Additional Sessions Judge Immanuel P. Kolladi on Friday sentenced three persons to rigorous imprisonment for life and fine of Rs.5,000 after they were found guilty of murdering a fish vendor at Parassala on March 1999. The prosecution case was that the accused Motta Salim alias Nijam, 32, a resident of Chalai, Ramdas, 42, and Sasi 32, residents of Parassala, clobbered Peer Mohammed to death using a rock after dragging him out of his house.
Man killed
A 42-year-old man was killed when the scooter he was riding collided with a KSRTC bus at Panavila, near Bakery junction, on Sunday night. The police identified the deceased as Subrayamanyom Potti, head priest of the Chenkalloor Mahadeva Temple.
Injured
The district president of the Kerala Congress (B), Baby Thomas, was injured when he was hit by an unidentified vehicle at Nalanchira on Sunday night. He has been admitted to the Medical College Hospital with fractures on his leg.
Assault charge: five held
The police arrested five persons in connection with the assault of a union activist, Suresh, near Thampanoor on Saturday evening. The persons arrested are Sreekumar, 30, Sajikumar, 25, Binukumar, 29, Shibu 32, Rajesh, 25, all residents of Kottukal.
Three arrested
The Pettah police have arrested three youth in connection with the attack on a motorist at Eenchakal junction last month. The accused were identified as Anoop (25) of Muttathara, Ramu alias Dinesh Kumar (20) of Pettah and Rajeev (27).
