KOCHI: A leadership meeting of the Kerala Latin Catholic Association (KLCA) under the aegis of the Varappuzha Archdiocese will be held here on Monday. The association leadership has expressed "dissatisfaction" over the allotment of seats for the forthcoming local body polls, especially the Kochi Corporation. Felix Pulloodan, all-Kerala president of the association, will inaugurate the meeting to be held at the Cochin Arts Centre auditorium at 5.30 p.m. He said on Sunday that both the political fronts had not done justice to the Latin Catholic community with regard to the distribution of seats for the elections. The Left Democratic Front (LDF) had allotted 25 seats to Latin Catholic candidates in the city corporation, while the United Democratic Front (UDF) had allotted 29 seats. As per an understanding, the Latin Catholics was to be given at least 44 seats in the Corporation Council, said Mr. Pulloodan. He added that the meeting would chalk out a strategy for the elections to be implemented in the Ernakulam region. The KLCA meeting will be attended by Xavier Ambalathumparampil, president of the association under the Varappuzha diocese, among others. The Latheen Katholikka Aikya Vedi plans to oppose the UDF in the local bodies elections in the wake of the Government's failure to take a stand on the issue of special recruitment.
