BANGALORE: Minister for Industries P.G.R. Sindhia said on Sunday that the move to boycott the coming information technology event, IT.in, by information technology and biotechnology companies in the State is unfair as the Government has initiated projects worth Rs. 7,000 crores as part of infrastructure development in the city. He said major projects such as the Bangalore International Airport, Cauvery water supply for city municipal councils and road network improvement are on the anvil. Mr. Sindhia was responding to the proposed boycott by the industry quoting apathy of the Government towards infrastructure development in the city. Commenting on the Sarojini Mahishi report's recommendations on providing employment to 50 per cent Kannadigas, he said that not even 20 per cent of the employees were from the State in many companies. The Minister wanted information technology and biotechnology companies to be open towards the local people.
