Alleged criminals arrested

NEW DELHI: Three persons were arrested on Friday by the North-West Delhi police on charges of their involvement in criminal cases.

Surinder Singh was arrested at Rohini after the police recovered a knife from his possession. Investigations revealed that he was a registered bad character of Sarai Rohilla police station and was involved in more than 45 cases.

In another case, the police arrested Rajesh, a registered bad character of Jehangirpuri police station, and his accomplice, Rajinder, near Rithala Metro station. The police said Rajesh was involved in over 20 criminal cases.

Six nabbed for planning dacoity

NEW DELHI: Six people were arrested on Friday at Narela in South-West Delhi on charges of planning to commit a dacoity. The police recovered a country-made firearm and impounded two stolen motorcycles at their instance.

Acting on a tip-off that some criminals had gathered in a DDA Park at Naraina, the police mounted a raid and overpowered six of them. They were identified as Taslim, Sanjeev, Mange Lal, Dharamvir, Inderpal and Davender Kumar. During interrogation, Dharambir allegedly disclosed that he had stolen a motorcycle from Gurgaon.

Two killed, four hurt in accidents

NEW DELHI: Two young men were killed and four others sustained injuries in separate road accidents reported from different parts of the Capital on Sunday.

The first incident occurred around 9-30 a.m. when Sunny (20) was on his way to Shakarpur in East Delhi after picking up an orchestra party, comprising four persons, at New Delhi railway station. According to the police, the Santro hit a bus plying on route No. 402, which was negotiating a right turn from Vishnu Digambar Marg.

The injured were taken to JPN Hospital where Sunny, who had sustained head injuries, succumbed to his injuries in the evening.

A 23-year-old auto-rickshaw driver, later identified as Jitender, was killed when a rashly driven truck hit the vehicle at Dwarka in South-West Delhi around 10-15 a.m.

Slain gangster's aide arrested

NEW DELHI: A close accomplice of a gangster, who was killed in an encounter with the Special Staff of the South-West Delhi police this past Friday, was arrested by the Crime Branch on Saturday. The police recovered a knife from him.

According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Tejinder Luthra, the Crime Branch received a tip-off that Jaibir, the accomplice of Somvir, would come to R.K. Puram to meet other gang members. Subsequently, a trap was laid and he was arrested.

During interrogation, Jaibir allegedly confessed to his involvement in at least seven cases registered in Delhi and Haryana.

Child assaulted

NEW DELHI: A five-year old girl was allegedly raped by an unidentified person in North Delhi after which angry residents ghearoed a police station today.

The girl, a resident of Kjajuri Khas was assaulted late last night when she had gone out of her house to a nearby well.

The police registered a case today but no arrests were made. Angry residents ghearoed the Kjajuri Khas police station for a long time today demanding action in the case.
