HYDERABAD: A youngster was brutally murdered at Nallakunta on Monday night by a group of persons allegedly hired by the father of the girl he had `eloped' with a couple of weeks ago. The murder perpetrated when the victim Mahesh Goud, 22, met his 18-year-old girl friend in a corner of the Kala Residency apartment building near Vidyanagar post-office. The Nallakunta police said that the killers, six in number, apparently followed the girl and attacked Goud even as he was talking to her. A panicked Goud ran upstairs but was forced to stop at the fourth floor as the door leading to the terrace was locked. The accused, wielding knives and swords chased him, caught hold of him near the door and killed him by slitting his throat, the Nallakunta Inspector, P. Santosh Kumar, said. The police suspect the girl fled the place following the attack.
Parents' charge
The victim's parents, in their complaint lodged with the police, charged that a local Congress leader, S. Srinivas, masterminded the killing as their son fell in love with his daughter. Among the killers was a constable of Shahalibanda police station, they alleged. A car owner-cum-driver of Bahadurnagar in Ramnagar Gundu, the victim came in contact with Mr. Srinivas when the latter contested as corporator from Vidyanagar division during the previous MCH elections. As Goud used to frequently visit the house of Mr. Srinivas, he came close to the latter's daughter. They reportedly eloped on August 27, got married in a temple at Sanathnagar and went to Sholapur. "Since then, Mr. Srinivas and his henchmen began harassing and threatening us. Promising to perform their marriage officially, they lured my son and the girl to Hyderabad five days ago," the police said quoting the victim's parents as saying. On reaching Hyderabad, they took the girl to her house saying the matter would be settled soon. The accused are absconding.
