For the employees of the District Court, Vanchiyoor, it was a day when the rigours of law made way for cultural festivity.
A flower carpet put up by the employees of the Civil Court was adjudged the best at a `Pookkalam' competition organised to mark the Onam festivities.
Around 40 teams representing various government institutions, including the District Collectorate, Vikas Bhavan and the Regional Passport Office took part in the competition held on September 9. The floral carpet laid out in front of the court library was inaugurated by District Judge D. Pappachan.
Noted poet Kureepuzha Sreekumar handed over the trophy instituted by the cultural wing of the secretariat `Sangha Samskara,' to the winners.
The trophy was received by T. Sanal Kumar on behalf of the civil court employees.
