Guntur
Staff Reporter
GUNTUR: The Guntur police propose to put prominent political leaders having security cover in the district under house arrest on the day of municipal polling if they violate the election code of conduct. People's representatives and other political party leaders, who have a security cover of any category, are not allowed to enter any polling station or go round various stations, hence they have been advised by the Superintendent of Police, V.C. Sajjanar, not to violate the directive of the State Election Commission. They are not allowed to be poll/booth agents of candidates and come anywhere near them, he said and added that all the political parties had been told not to nominate such persons for such jobs.
External force
The district police will come to know of the exact number of external force it will get after Ganesh immersion is over at Hyderabad. There is a calm in the Palnadu region now where trouble is expected during the polling.
New logo
The police have unveiled a new logo for the force in the district and the Superintendent of Police has written an individual letter to all employees in the department thanking them for the dedicated service rendered by them during the past two months. He has also sought cooperation from them for smooth conduct of the polls.
