CHENNAI: N. Anto Peter believes it's important that the IT revolution should `reach the masses'. That's why he is among the handful of writers who introduce in Tamil the concepts and software of fields ranging from Desk-Top Publishing to graphics and animation. The latter is the subject of his most recent work, `Graphics and Animation', published by Perikam, a compilation of essays he had been writing for the fortnightly Tamil magazine `Thamizh Computer' on the Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Director and 3D Studio Max software. Besides writing on IT for various newspapers and magazines from 1995, he is also the director of Softview Visual Communications, which is an institute that offers computer, journalism and photography courses in Tamil. "We were among the pioneers to introduce courses on graphics and animation,'' he says proudly. Having published 13 books in various areas of computer software, he believes there is a great need for such books. "While many other titles in Tamil would not sell more than 3,000 copies," Peter says, "my book on DTP alone sold more than 15,000 copies. That's because there are a lot of young people who needed technical books in the vernacular.'' The author can be reached at 2374 1053 in Chennai.
