NAL designs surveillance airship

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL) has designed and developed an airship in partnership with the Agra-based Aerial Delivery Research and Development Establishment.

NAL director A.R. Upadhya told reporters here on Tuesday that the tethered version of the airship would soon be tested at Agra. Propelled by autonomous control systems, the airship would undergo tests related to communication with the ground and other areas

"Once stationed in the skies, the airship will be capable of observing a large area," he said.
