Sashidhar Rao scored an unbeaten 119. Scores: The Parle Cup (under-17) inter-schools: Nruptunga JC 204 for nine (M. Sashidhar Rao 119 not out, Bharath Khanna four for 28, Abhinay three for 27) lost to Bhavan's JC `B' 205 for four (K. Naveen 105 not out, S. Abhista Rao 38). Bhega's HS 53 (Hemant five for nine, Shahbaz three for 25) lost to Don Bosco HS 54 for no loss (Md.Fardun 31 not out). St. Mary's Centenary College 74 (Rohit five for seven) lost to Little Flower JC `A' 76 for no loss (Pavan Yadav 30 not out). Artillery Centre in final
Artillery Centre edged out a fighting SBI 92-91 in the men's semifinal of the MCH Open invitation basketball tournament at Victory Playground on Tuesday. The winner was trailing 42-48 at the break. Kunal Behera (22), Suresh and Bipin Barla with 16 points each scored in the crucial second session to guide Artillery to victory. For the losers, veteran Harikrishna Prasad (32), Subbaiah (22) and Srinath (18) put up a good show.
Rajesh, Somesh in joint lead
V.A.V. Rajesh and V. Somesh with 6.5 points each were jointly in the lead after seven rounds in the SBI's prize money AP open chess tournament in Kadapa on Tuesday according to information received here. The results: T. Puroshottam (6) drew with V. Somesh (6.5); V.A.V. Rajesh (6.5) bt P. Satyanarayaan (5); G.V. Srinivas (5) lost to J. Malleswara Rao (6); P. Praveen Prasad (6) bt S.C. Reddy (5); D. Lakshmana Rao (6) bt S.K. Saidulu (5).
Hyd Mayors wins
Hyderabad Mayors defeated APSRTC 25-20, 25-19, 25-23 in the A-Division volleyball league championship for K.S.Vyas memorial trophy at Fateh Maidan Indoor Stadium here on Tuesday. Other results: SAI STC, Vsp, bt DRDO 25-19, 29-27, 25-13; SCR bt Southern Command 25-22, 27-25, 17-25, 25-17.
Bhavan's College wins
Bhavan's College (Sainikpuri) defeated OU Science College 69-24 in the Inter-college kabaddi tournament on Tuesday. Other results: S.D. Signodia College bt Deccan Engg College 68-20; Bhavan's Narayanaguda bt City College 57-30.
Vasavi EC triumphs
Vasavi Engineering College defeated Wesley Degree College 46-26 in the final of the Osmania University inter-college basketball tournament. Om Prakash (10) was the topscorer for the winners and Gopi (12) for the losers.
