Extension sought for terrestrial TV telecast

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Legislative Council Chairman V.R. Sudarshan has written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh seeking extension of terrestrial transmission by Doordarshan Kendra, Bangalore, up to 11 p.m. At present, the Doordarshan channel's terrestrial telecast is restricted to five hours, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Mr. Sudarshan said that in November this year Karnataka will be celebrating the golden jubilee of the consolidation of Kannada-speaking areas as one State.

Doordarshan Kendra Bangalore, which has been the State's cultural ambassador with a variety of programmes, has been able to reach every corner of the State, thanks to its terrestrial telecast, which enables homes that have no cable connection to watch the channel.
