Certificate course on `Understanding Gandhi'

NEW DELHI: Delhi University's Gandhi Bhavan has introduced a short-term certificate course on "Understanding Gandhi''. The course will begin in the first week of October and registration for the same will start on September 19. The minimum educational qualification for the course is senior secondary. The course is intended to impart the basics of Gandhian thought and action, especially to the youth to orient them in perceiving the contribution of Gandhiji in the right perspective and also to promote in them the values of better citizenship.

Open school extends last date

NEW DELHI: The last date for admission to secondary and senior secondary courses of the National Institute of Open Schooling for the current session has been extended till September 20. Interested learners can now register for the courses with a late fee of Rs. 50.

Indian among ten outstanding Americans

NEW DELHI: Twenty nine-year-old Vikram Sheel Kumar has been named one of the Ten Young Outstanding Americans for 2005 by the United States Junior Chamber of Commerce, according to a release issued here.

Dr. Kumar is the first American of Indian origin selected for the award. The awards will be presented at World Trade Center in Boston, Massachusetts, on September 17. Dr. Kumar is the CEO and president of the Boston-based Dimagi Inc., where clinical interfaces, health information systems and mobile technologies are designed to manage global disease.

Water supply to be hit

NEW DELHI: Because of major repair work at Chandrawal water works, water supply will be affected in the New Delhi Municipal Council area, Delhi Cantonment, Karol Bagh, Paharganj, Bara Hindu Rao, Idgah, Sadar Bazar, Old Rajendra Nagar, New Rajendra Nagar, Patel Nagar and South Delhi on Thursday evening.

In case of an emergency, water tankers will be available on telephone numbers 23814338 (Chandrawal), 233606685 (NDMC), 23537379 (Idgah) and 25711129 (Rajendra Nagar).

CGHS convention

NEW DELHI: A one-day national convention on "Save Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS); Save Government Health Services" is being organised jointly by the All-India CGHS Employees' Association and the Confederation of Central Government Employees and Workers here on Wednesday. The convention is the culmination of a prolonged movement of CGHS employees in the form of dharnas, demonstrations and token strikes.
