CHAMARAJANAGAR: Minister for Public Works and chairman of Karnataka Milk Federation H.D. Revanna on Tuesday inaugurated five bulk milk-coolers at Halahalli in Gundlepet taluk. The Mysore-Chamarajanagar District Cooperative Milk Union has set up five bulk milk coolers, each with a capacity of 25,000 litres at a cost of Rs. 10.5 lakhs, under its clean milk programme. The setting up of milk coolers in villages will ensure that the milk is chilled immediately, thereby enhancing its quality.
Pact
A memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and State Government to take up dairy projects for Rs. 250 crores. He said the profit earned by the federation will be used to take up development programmes. The Mysore-Chamarajanagar milk union has earned a profit of Rs. 2.5 crores and works for Rs. 13 crores have been taken up, he added. He also said the Government is keen on establishing 300 power stations in rural areas to facilitate proper supply of power. The Chamarajanagar MP M. Shivanna said a proposal urging the Government to give a cup of milk to the children along with the midday meals will be submitted soon. He said Rs. 5 lakhs has been released for the construction of community hall in the village in memory of H.N. Srikanta Shetty. Minister for Food and Civil Supplies and district in-charge H.S. Mahadev Prasad, who presided over the function, said that to distribute rice at Rs. 3 per kg, the Government has given a Rs. 60 crores.
