THRISSUR: In a major breakthrough, the police have rounded up the key accused in the murder of Tom Joseph, 20, of Peramangalam in the district. Tom was missing since September 3. His body was found on September 5 at Kanjikkode near Palakkad. The burnt vehicle was located at Attappallam, 8 km away from Kanjikkode. According to the sources in the police, the accused Jaison, of Thrikkur, in the district has been located at Jamnagar in Gujarat.
SIT directive
The sources told The Hindu here that Jaison's relatives located him at Jamnagar. They have handed him over to the police station at Jamnagar as per the directives of the Special Investigating Team (SIT) of the Kerala police led by the Town Dy. Superintendent of Police M.R. Manian. The police had received information that Jaison was likely to go to Jamnagar. The police identified the location of the mobile tower range from which he had made calls to his relatives in Jamnagar. "We then warned his relatives of the consequences sheltering Jaison, an accused in a murder case, and directed them to hand him over to the local police there," said the SIT officials.
Police team
The State police have sent their team to Jamnagar. The team is expected to reach Jamnagar by Tuesday night and will take Jaison into custody, the sources said. The police hope that Sajayan of Madavakkara, the accomplice of Jaison, too will be arrested soon.
