KOLLAM: The Hindu Aikya Vedi will be organising an indefinite fast in front of the Karunagapally Taluk Office from September-end in protest against the alleged diversion of tsunami relief funds by the State Government. Vedi general secretary E.S. Biju said here on Tuesday that more than Rs.350 had been received as contributions for the relief. But the amount had been diverted to meet other expenses of the Government. Directives from the High Court and the Lok Adalat in this connection were being ignored by the Government, he alleged. Mr. Biju said the houses being constructed by some of the voluntary organisations for the tsunami victims of Alapad were in violation of the norms and the recognised plan.
