ONLINE TRADING: Anita S. Akella, chief accounts officer of TTD making a presentation on `e-procurement' in Tirupati on Tuesday
TIRUPATI: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is bracing itself up to take yet another giant leap in its marketing and purchases wing by planning to embrace `e-procurement', the online mode of transacting. This is set to open new vistas in procurement for the temple management, which buys several tonnes of rice, Bengal gram, pulses, edible oils, ghee, vegetables, engineering/construction material, medicines and so on, besides putting tonsured human hair for sale. To facilitate a smooth changeover from the traditional system, a four-day training programme is being conducted on the new mode at the TTD's administrative building here for the benefit of its engineers and the contract suppliers. Taking part in the training programme, the financial advisor and chief accounts officer, Anita S. Akella, explained on Tuesday how transparency, accountability, timely delivery and huge savings could be ensured through electronic mode of transacting, besides avoiding irregularities. Ms.Akella also assured the contractors to get an interactive cell opened in the office premises, which would be of great use in creating awareness among the contractors
