RAJAHMUNDRY: The Rajahmundry Municipal Corporation is going to resolve inter-departmental issues with the South Central Railway on Wednesday during the visit of Railway General Manager PN Mathur.

Local MLA Rowthu Suryaprakasha Rao is going to hand over a detailed representation on several issues related to railway overbridges, east-side booking office with entrance and road-overbridge at one level crossing.

The MLA released a copy of the representation to press on Tuesday.

    Jampet market bridge

In his representation, the MLA raised 12 issues, including widening of railway bridge at Jampet market.

He said the State Government had accepted a proposal to give budgetary provision to the bridge, which costs Rs.3.01 crores and Municipal Corporation had already paid Rs.80 lakhs and bank guarantee was furnished by the State Government to the tune of Rs.2.21 crores.

The MLA requested the Railway authorities to take up the work immediately. Secondly, the MLA asked the Railways to furnish details of estimates for Lakshmivarapupet railway bridge to the Public Health Department enabling it to release funds from the Corporation.

The representation also recalled the inspection done on east side booking counter and entry, by duly extending the foot-overbridge existing near the main gate towards the Balijapeta side.

This second entry would provide immediate access to the NH-5 from Railway station.

The MLA requested the Railways to hand over the abandoned railway bridge to the Corporation, which the council resolved to take up in 2002.

He requested the Railway authorities to take up construction of road-overbridge on railway level crossing at ILTD junction, reopening of parcel office at the Godavari railway station and maintenance of sub-way there.
