KANCHEEPURAM: Three persons were killed and three hurt in a road accident involving a light commercial vehicle and a bus near Wallajabad on Monday night. According to police, the accident occurred around 9-45 p.m. when a State Transport Corporation bus coming from Chengalpattu to Kancheepuram and a van, laden with milk sachets, collided at Pulliyambakkam. The LMV driver, Sekar (25) of Kancheepuram and its occupants, Jayavel (24) of Rajampet and Ezhumalai (22) of Injambakkam, died on the spot; the bus driver, Palani (41) and two passengers Saravanan (32) and Karthikeyan (29) sustained injuries. The Wallajabad police have registered a case and are investigating. In another accident, a motorcyclist died after his vehicle collided with a bus on Chennai-Bangalore Highway at 8-30 p.m. on Monday. Police said the victim J. Jokin (33) of Molachur was proceeding towards Sriperumpudur from Sunguvarchatram when his vehicle collided with a bus coming in the opposite direction on the national highway. The Sriperumpudur police have registered a case and are investigating.
Fatal fall
A pillion-rider, who snoozed off while travelling, fell and died on Monday. The victim, Sudhakar (24) of R.A. Puram, Chennai, was returning with his relative, Karthik (22) of R.K. Nagar, Chennai, on a motorcycle to Chennai from Marakanam after attending a marriage. He died on the spot after he fell down from the speeding vehicle near Illayanankuppam on East Coast Road around 2 p.m. on Monday. The Sadras police have registered a case and are investigating.
Cyclist knocked down
Saravanan (18), a carpenter was knocked down by a lorry at Selaiyur on Monday, when he was riding a bicycle on Velachery Main Road. The sand-laden lorry hit him from behind. The lorry driver fled the scene. The police are investigating
