Power cut

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended in parts of Avadi and Dasarathapuram between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Monday for maintenance work.

BSNL Plan reintroduced

The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, Tamilnadu Telecom Circle has reintroduced the Plan-140 for the new subscribers for a period of two months for CellOne mobile services. The services will be available from September 15 to November 14. Under the plan a rent of Rs.140 per month is charged. A one-time activation free of Rs.200 would be charged. For Local/STD/ISD facility, security deposits will be charged. However, exemption on security deposit as available for other plans is applicable for the above-mentioned plan also.

Dental camp

V.V. Dental Hospital, Anna Nagar in association with Comforting Hands, a charitable trust, conducted a free dental camp at Lady Shrine Old Age Home, Vepery on Tuesday. Over 130 inmates were screened at the camp. The hospital had arranged free treatment for those who required dental care at the hospital.

A dream

programme

Sevalaya, Adyar organised a programme called "How to dream?" for students of Standard X, XI and XII at the Thiruninravur office.

B. Shiva from Tata Consultancy Services, quoting from his personal experience and incidents in the lives of great achievers, explained the various factors needed to dream one's way to success.

His informative, interesting and interactive talk motivated the students to set high targets for themselves.

The Rajalakshmi Engineering College, Thandalam organised a guest lecture for MCA students on Monday. K. Venkatesan, Software Engineer, Orchid Infotech (P) Ltd. gave a brief introduction of "STRUTS".

Principal honoured

Sylvia Reginald, Principal, St. John's Mat. Hr. Sec. School, Mandaveli, has been conferred Vidya Bhushan by the Indian Holistic Medical Academy and the Open International University for Complementary Medicines for her meritorious and selfless services rendered to the society for the past 27 years.

Spoken English course

R. Ajay Kumar, a Standard VIII of Zion Mat. Hr. Sec. School, Selaiyur has won the first prize of the drawing competition organised by LIC, India as part of its golden jubilee celebrations.
